Together with KIT, the FZI Research Center for Information Technology will be once again represented at CeBIT. Digital transformation is the topic of this year’s leading IT trade fair in Hannover, Germany. The main topics that the FZI is going to present are future mobility, autonomous driving and applications for the internet of things with augmented reality support.
According to the CeBIT organisers, one of the biggest IT trends is the fusion of the real and the digital world: Virtual and augmented reality applications (VR/AR) are expected to conquer the industry, logistics, healthcare and many more markets in the near future. Thus, this year’s CeBIT has an own approach to this topic and a new meeting point for VR and AR developers, providers and users is created. With the results from the projects NIKI 4.0 and SensIDL, the FZI will show solutions to the topic. The demonstrator shows intelligent data visualisation with augmented reality in the context of industry 4.0. For this purpose, data from various sensors with model-driven software development approaches will be read, semantically enriched, transformed and visualised on mobile devices. The visitors can improve the production conditions of our exemplary production (a 3D printer) and thus optimise the quality of the product.
The demonstrator for autonomous driving will show ideas and concepts of the test area for autonomous driving Baden-Württemberg (TAF BW) by means of a virtual test drive. Here, the focus is on mapping, Car2X functions and the data infrastructure. The demonstrator consists of one model vehicle (Q5) at the scale of 1:8, a video wall and traffic lights with a related road side unit (RSU). The RSU informs the car that is equally equipped with Car2X communication about the state of the traffic lights. Thus, the vehicle can react to information about traffic lights at simulated traffic lights positions sent by the RSU.
Further aspects that can be shown by the simulator, are mapping for the used test scenario on the monitor as well as a provision of traffic light information via an IT back-end. At CeBIT, the demonstrator will visualise and present the challenges, solutions and advantages of future mobility in a comprehensible way.
