Abstract:
Modelling of heterogeneous systems sometimes requires the use of different modelling languages at the same time to build a heterogeneous, but semantically integrated, system model. In order to establish semantically sound language integrations, we propose working with a reference language for studying the essential concepts in a uniform setting. The paper describes the approach and its relationships to tool integration and contains an example study for integrating continuous variables systems, discrete event systems, and imperative programming.
