Projekt Ontologging
Corporate Ontology Modeling and Management System
In the EU-IST funded project "Ontologging" the next generation of knowledge management systems is being developed based on Semantic Web technologies. The leading partners of Ontologging are FZI-WIM and meta4. The spanish company meta4 is one of the world's leading providers of software applications to manage human capital, FZI-WIM is the knowledge management research group at the non-profit research center and transfer institute at the University of Karlsruhe. Further project partners are INSEAD, INDRA, Archetypon and Deltatec.
Starting point for the project is meta4s knowledge management solution "KNOWNET" supporting innnovation and collaboration within and across companies used by over 50 clients. KNOWNET leverages individual human capital to improve collective human capitals. In Ontologging the current product is being extended using FZIs outstanding competence in the area of ontologies, relational metadata and Semantic Web architectures.
FZI's role in Ontologging
FZI is Semantic Web technology provider and consultant, e.g. this includes the topics of
Ontology and Metadata Engineering
Representation languages, such as RDF(S), DAML+OIL and extensions
Ontology and Metadata Repositories and Reasoning
Interaction between documents and ontologies
FZI defines scenarios for the application of complex structured ontologies for knowledge management
FZI developes prototypes demonstrating feasibility and potential application scenarios within Ontologging
FZI's main research topics in Ontologging
Ontology and Metadata Engineering using Multiple Ontologies
Semi-Automatic Generation and Maintenance of Ontologies
Metrics for the Evaluation of ontology-based systems
