Abstract:
Software is ubiquitous and is getting more and more complex. Being able to develop
new software efficiently and with high quality is a tremendous competitive
advantage. Reuse of existing functionality in the form of components is an effective
way to restore code quality while ensuring high maintainability. The DEviSE “Dynamic
Identification, Extraction and Reuse of Software Components in Distributed
Development Scenarios” (DEviSE) project provides a reuse-oriented platform for
distributed development This paper describes the basic DEviSE model, its prototype
implementation, and initial experiences, and outlines plans for future evaluation
and facilitation in practice.
