The Sponsors' Association

Industry-oriented research institutions like FZI must stay in close contact with the industrial IT world to gain insight into the current and future needs of the marketplace, to advise on its expertise and obtain valuable feedback, and to have friends who render support in the industrial and political world. To maintain the necessary strong links particularly into the regional economy a Sponsors' Association was originated in 1984 with 26 founder members (at the moment there are about 100 members) and has become an essential part of FZI's environment.

The Sponsors' Association is an association of companies and other organisatios capable of holding rights which want to use modern information technologies and cultivate for this purpose the contacts among each other as well as the contact to FZI and support the work of our research center.

The Sponsors' Association

• supports the research groups in the definition of long-term questions of practical interest,
• encourages selected scientific topics which hold promise for the future,
• supports the transfer of research results into the industrial reality,
• assists new research groups during their start-up phase, and
• elects the members of the Kuratorium of FZI.
