I studied cognitive psychology at the Free University in Berlin and have specialized in visual approaches for modeling knowledge structures. My thesis on Visual Knowledge Mapping Approaches was written in Tübingen at the Knowledge Media Research Center. My focus of research lies in the conception and design of cognitively adequate tools for personal knowledge management.

In recent years, I primarily worked on the semantic desktop project nepomuk in which I developed the visual iMapping approach and tool and QuiKey, a light-weight query tool.

Other activities include consulting and custom solutions based on Semantic MediaWiki, interaction design studies and some teaching in knowledge management, especially personal knowledge management.
