Athanasios Mazarakis studied Psychology with minor subject business administration at the University of Mannheim. Main focus of his studies were on statistical methods and evaluations, organizational psychology, multimedia learning and cognitive psychology. In his diploma thesis he worked on the Cognitive Load Theory and split-attention effect. Also he worked as online-mediator internship at the University of Utrecht.

Since January 2009 he is working in the department Information Process Engineering at FZI. The main research topic is the development, analysis and assessment of Web 2.0 instruments to conquer cognitive, social and motivational barriers at organisations.
