Verónica Rivera-Pelayo studied Computer Science Engineering at FIB, UPC-BARCELONA TECH (former Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya). Since January 2011 she is research scientist at FZI in the research division Information Process Engineering. She is working in the team of Prof. Rudi Studer within the competence areas Knowledge & Learning and Semantic Technologies. She is further a PhD student of Prof. Rudi Studer. In October 2010 she finished her Final Project (Senior Thesis) at SAP Research Center Karlsruhe in collaboration with FZI, within the scope of the project "MATURE". The thesis included Knowledge Management, Semantic Technologies and Social Network Analysis as main fields of research and the title is Mining Email Corpora for Personalised Expert Recommenders. Verónica is involved in the EU Project MIRROR, Reflective Learning at Work. The overall objective of MIRROR is to empower and engage employees to learn by reflection of tacit work practices and personal experiences, by providing a comprehensive application framework - so-called MIRROR AppSphere – which incorporates a bundle of real-time collaborative learning applications. The research of Verónica in MIRROR is focused on the use of self-tracking (Quantified Self - “self-knowledge through numbers”) to support reflective learning on the job. Her main interests include Technology Enhanced Learning, Informal and Reflective Learning, Semantic Web Technologies, Mobile Technologies and Context Management. As part of the project „Synchronal Payment for Diagnostics as a Service“ she worked on the conception and implementation of a payment system for the online management (as a Service in Internet) and analysis of car diagnostics.
