Prof. Dr. Rudi Studer is a Director in the FZI Department Information Process Engineering as well as the Speaker of FZI's Management Board.

Since 1989, Prof. Studer is a Full Professor for Applied Informatics at the Institute for Applied Informatics and Formal Methods (AIFB) at the University of Karlsruhe (TH). He is also a co-founder and member of the scientific advisory board of ontoprise GmbH, Karlsruhe.

His research interests comprise Semantic Web, Ontology Management, Knowledge Management, Text and Data Mining, Semantic Web Services, Semantic Grid, as well as Business Intelligence and Service Science.

Prof. Studer was the founding President of the Semantic Web Science Association e.V. (SWSA), a founding member of the German Society for Knowledge Management (Gesellschaft für Wissensmanagement e.V.), he is one of the Vice Presidents of Semantic Technology Institute International (STI2), and, from 2003 - 2007, he was the editor in chief of the Elsevier Journal of Web Semantics.

Further, he is the Technical Director of the European Integrated Project NeOn (Lifecycle Support for Networked Ontologies) and the deputy speaker of the Graduate School Information Engineering and Market Engineering at Karlsruhe University (TH).
