Tobias Bär graduated from the University of Karlsruhe (TH) with a Diploma degree in Computer Science in 2005. His major fields of interest were Machine Learning, Robotics, and Parallel Computing. He got in touch with the research field of Automotive Engineering in 2005, writing his thesis at the Daimler Chrysler Research Center of Technology in Ulm.
From 2006 to 2008 Tobias Bär gathered international experience, working for MRX-Technologies in Perth, Australia. MRX-Technologies provides products and services to the railway, mining & exploration industries. In 2009 he joined the Intelligent Systems and Production Engineering (ISPE) group of the FZI. There, his major field of research is the personalisation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems to the needs and the personality of the driver. Furthermore, he is in charge of the construction of a driving simulator as a test and evaluation platform for future algorithms and automotive hardware components.
