Nicolas Kersten (M.Sc.)

Research Scientist


Nicolas Kersten studied Biology at Justus-Liebig-University Gießen from 2010 until 2015. He specialized in Phytopathology in his Bachelor thesis and in molecular developmental Biology in his Master thesis.

From 2016 until 2018, he studied Bioinformatics at Eberhard Karls University Tübingen. Focussing on biomedical research, the topic of his Master thesis was Analysis of the interplay between viral sequence diversity and antibody neutralization potential in a cohort study of HIV-infected people.

Since September 2018, Nicolas Kersten is a Research Scientist in the research division Intelligent Systems and Production Engineering (ISPE) at FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik. His work in cooperatioon with the workgroup Methods in Medical Informatics under the lead of Prof. Dr. Nico Pfeifer (University of Tübingen) is dedicated to the analysis of molecular and clinical data for personalyzed cancer treatments under the application of Machine Learning methods.
