The FZI at IT-TRANS in Karlsruhe

Together with strong research and mobility partners, the FZI Research Center for Information Technology presents current research and project results on intelligent autonomous solutions in public transport at the Karlsruhe Trade Fair Centre (Messe Karlsruhe) in hall 1 at booth 1A1 between March 3 and 5, 2020.

As a special highlight and eye-catcher, we will present the cooperation of the Test Area Autonomous Driving Baden-Württemberg with the project EVA-Shuttle for the automation of the last mile in public transport. Furthermore, insights into various mobility projects will be given, especially with focus on automated and interconnected driving. Topics like infrastructure-based automated driving and testing will also be addressed.

Also represented at the booth:

  • Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Institute for Transport Studies (lfV)
  • Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences
  • Profile Region Mobility Systems in Karlsruhe (Profilregion Mobilitätssysteme Karlsruhe)
  • TransportTechnologie-Consult Karlsruhe GmbH (TTK)

In addition to the exciting exhibits and demonstrations, the exhibition partners will participate in the conference part of the trade fair with 20-minute lectures on the main topic "Automated Public Transport – Automatisierung im ÖPNV" at the Market Update Forum on March 4, 2020, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Dr. Alexander Viehl, division manager of the FZI's research division Intelligent Systems and Production Engineering (ISPE) will talk about infrastructure-based automation in public transport "Infrastrukturgestützte Automatisierung im ÖPNV". Prof. Dr. Eric Sax, scientific director of the FZI's research division Embedded Systems and Sensors Engineering (ESS) and head of the Institute for Information Processing Technologies (ITIV) at KIT, will give exciting insights into the project "AStriD" and the automation of tram depots. Dr. Frank Pagel from the Karlsruhe Transport Authority (KVV) will provide an overview of the progress of regiomove, a pilot project on the networking of all transport services of the Middle Upper Rhine region, whereas Micheal Madel from INIT GmbH will give a lecture about intermodal transport control systems.
