"Self-Organising Production" - An Application of the Industry 4.0

The Innovation Alliance "Innovationsallianz Baden-Württemberg" invites you to the next free online seminar - this time on the topic of Industry 4.0.

Almost like in an ant colony: The concept of "self-organising production" foregoes central production planning. Decentralised approaches and the permanent localisation as well as online tracking of workpieces and operating resources rather allow a maximum flexibility and fast response times in production. Although the idea was already discussed in the 2000s, its implementation failed for a long time due to adequate computing power and lack of trust. But this is currently changing and the first visible applications are, for example, driverless transport systems that transport workpieces to the next available assembly workstation.

This raises many questions:

  • What other technologies and processes will be used in production systems in the short and medium term?
  • What are the consequences for suppliers and logistics services?
  • And above all: Where and how can I participate in this development?

Dr. Olaf Sauer, head of the business unit 'Automation' at Fraunhofer IOSB in Karlsruhe will provide ideas and insights during the webinar.
