Science Festival EFFEKTE

As in 2013 and 2015, Karlsruhe will turn into a huge hands-on laboratory at the science festival EFFEKTE for the third time. The goal of EFFEKTE is to get people interested in scientific topics in an entertaining and comprehensible way.

Science is everywhere in our private and professional lives. In this regard, Karlsruhe is a particularly outstanding science and research environment. The visitors of EFFEKTE have the possibility to discover the scientific competence of Karlsruhe in all its facets. Since 2013, the city marketing science office (Wissenschaftsbüro der Stadtmarketing Karlsruhe GmbH) organises the biennial science festival.

The FZI at EFFEKTE 2017

With a total of three events, the FZI participates in the science festival in 2017:

  • On Monday, 26 June 2017, on the Open Labs Day the FZI opens its doors to all who are interested in the FZI House of Living Labs.
  • Are autonomous vehicles a patent remedy for comfortable and safe mobility? Or do they present a too high degree of risk? On Wednesday, 28 June 2017, FZI Division Manager Dr. Alexander Viehl will deliver an entertaining speech at EFFEKTE: Wissensdurst and talk about "Autonomous Driving – Taking a look at tomorrow’s mobility" ("Autonomes Fahren – ein Blick auf die Straßen von Morgen"). The speech will be given at the bar La Louve from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • The finale is the EFFEKTE highlight event on the main stage in the garden of Karlsruhe Palace (Schlossgarten): On Saturday, 1 July 2017, the FZI shows how robots support rescue teams in catastrophes and help searching and rescueing people on difficult or dangerous terrain. The visitors can look over the shoulder of the FZI robots LAURON V and KAIRO 3 and even experience the terrain through their eyes. Employees of the FZI will answer questions about the robots.
