On Friday, July 5, 2019, the flagship project efeuCampus (eco-friendly experimental urban logistics campus) funded by the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg was launched in Bruchsal. efeuCampus shall become a long-term initiator in the development of freight logistics solutions for the last mile and autonomous vehicle technology in the future. A test area is being developed therefore on the area of the former military barrack "Dragoner Kaserne" ("efeuQuartier"), in which technologies for energy-efficient construction and living are being tested and presented.

For this purpose, the FZI Research Center for Information Technology, which is in addition to SEW-Eurodrive, the KIT Institute for Material Handling and Logistics (IFL), PTV Group, the b.i.g-Group as well as the Institute of Energy Efficient Mobility (IEMM) at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences part of the project consortium, brings in its expertise in the field of autonomous driving, energy management and logistics. Moreover, the project will also be accompanied from a legal perspective in terms of data protection requirements of the efeuLog pickup and delivery system. The project shall be implemented by the efeuCampus Bruchsal GmbH, which is 100% owned by the City of Bruchsal.
