FZI Blog: Furby Home Alone – Dangerous Functions of a Toy

Children love it, it wiggles its ears, babbles, sings, dances and needs attention – the Furby. In the 1990s, the electronic playmate that is originally from Japan was to be found in almost every children's room. In 2016, the manufacturer Hasbro launched Furby Connect. The new, smart Furby can be connected via Bluetooth with the smartphone or with the tablet. An experiment of the Competence Center for IT Security, which is managed by Jochen Rill, the manager of the field of cryptography, shows the risks of the new function.
