FZI in 2nd place at EuRoC Freestyle Challenge

In the current phase of the European robotics competition EuRoC, the teams could demonstrate their know-how in an exciting human-robot cooperation. The FZI team FLAAIR has finished in a good second place.

For this purpose, the FZI has developed a CAD application that enables humans to draw and change a highly complex robot path with a pen on any surface. Possible surfaces can be car doors for instance. Then, the robot follows the path exactly along the surface of the object and automatically adapts to difficult surfaces thanks to its adaptive, power-based control. This intuitive way to programme new motion sequences, makes complex manual programming unnecessary, for example for bonding or welding applications.

Together with its partners MRK Systeme and Adam Opel AG, the FZI team FLAAIR is now preparing for the third part of the competition, the showcase challenge.
