The FZI in Dialogue at the Constitutional Festival "VerfassungsFEST"

In the framework of the celebrations on the 70 year existence of the German constitution, the Thematic Field "Recht" (law) presented itself with selected projects on the current legal research of the FZI at the Schlossplatz in Karlsruhe.

Whether it may be autonomous driving, artificial intelligence or blockchain – legal questions arise in a lot of fields of research. For this reason, there is a separate thematic field at the FZI that devotes itself to this questions on the interface of technology and law.

In the framework of the constitutional festival, the thematic field presented for the first time selected projects of legal research to an interested public during two days and showed in direct dialogue with citizens, in which areas of life fundamental rights can be affected through innovative technological developments.

By means of a design-thinking survey, citizens were additionally asked which advantages they expect individually from autonomous driving. In addition, the usability of a legal chatbot was evaluated in the framework of a usability study.

The team of the Thematic Field "Recht" at the FZI supports, amongst others, research projects from the idea up to the conclusion with its legal expertise and bases its research work on the methods developed in the projects. In doing so, researchers of the thematic field "Recht" contribute experience from the industry and politics to research.
