Members of the FZI’s Board of Executive Directors Oberweis and Wiesenberger Reelected

Scientific member of the FZI’s Board of Executive Directors Prof. Dr. Andreas Oberweis reelected as avocational director according to the statutes / FZI’s Board of Trustees confirms Jan Wiesenberger, director on a full-time basis, prematurely in office

Karlsruhe, 30.11.2018 – Andreas Oberweis and Jan Wiesenberger have been confirmed as members of the Board of Executive Directors of the FZI Research Center for Information Technology each for a further term of office. In its meeting on 27 November 2018, the FZI’s Board of Trustees elected Prof. Dr. Andreas Oberweis according to the foundation articles for further three years to the research institute’s Board of Executive Directors. At the same time, the trustees expressed their confidence in Jan Wiesenberger 10 months before expiry of his term of office and confirmed him for further five years in the role of a director on a full-time basis.

This is Jan Wiesenberger’s second term of office in the management of the FZI. The graduate industrial engineer was appointed as director on a full-time basis in 2014 for the first time. The 41-year-old Wiesenberger started his career at the FZI in 2004 as a research scientist in the division Software Engineering. In 2008, Wiesenberger was initially appointed department manager and soon afterwards division manager. In 2011, he transferred to the management of the FZI and was member of the Board of Executive Directors on a full-time basis until his election.

With his reappointment, Prof. Dr. Andreas Oberweis’ third term of office as member of the FZI’s Board of Executive Directors starts. As a member of the Board of Scientific Directors, Andreas Oberweis also engages in the research division Software Engineering of the FZI. He is professor at the Institute of Applied Informatics and Formal Description Methods (AIFB) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Together with Prof. Dr.-Ing. J. Marius Zöllner, Jan Wiesenberger and Oberweis form the FZI’s Board of Executive Directors and manage the businesses of the Karlsruhe institution for applied research in information technology.

The FZI Research Center for Information Technology, with its head office in Karlsruhe and a branch office in Berlin, is a non-profit institution for applied research in information technology and technology transfer. Its task is to provide businesses and public institutions with the latest research findings in information technology. It also qualifies young researchers for their career in academics or business as well as self-employment.
