Initiative for IT Innovations in Production Launched at the FZI

Shaping IT together / Working group calls for the participation of interested companies / Next meeting on November 15

Karlsruhe, 05.07.2018 – What does the production sector need to develop further? How can innovations be integrated into working processes in order to optimise them? The newly founded working group “IT-Innovationen in der Produktion” (IT Innovations in Production) is addressing these questions. In June, the initiative was launched at the FZI Research Center for Information Technology, in which researchers and representatives of industry companies work together to develop solutions. The aim of the working group is to discuss research results and initiate innovation transfer. The development of synergies across projects and companies is just as much a focus as the development of new cooperations and networks between science and economy.

As part of the project CAMiROB, the FZI established the working group on June 7, 2018, which is dedicated to the exchange and discourse on scientific findings. There were presentations and discussions between manufacturing companies, IT service providers, technology integrators and research institutions on the main topic of "Data acquisition, data feedback and their use”. The next working group meeting will take place on November 15, 2018 in Karlsruhe under the Motto “Automation der Produktion” (Automation of Production). Interested companies can register with the FZI researcher Jana Dücker at duecker@fzi.de.

The project CAMiROB started on November 2017. Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the funding programme on production research “KMU-innovativ: Produktionsforschung”, the FZI Research Center for Information Technology, Kautenburger GmbH, Arnold IT Systems GmbH & Co. KG and J-Vision GmbH are working on the development of a CAM-integrated guidance and control system for robotics-driven processing cells for small and medium-sized companies. The project ends in October 2020.
