Spring Festival of the FZI

"Without security man is neither able to develop his strengths nor to enjoy the fruits thereof; for there is no freedom without security."

Wilhelm von Humboldt

On May 28, 2020, the fourth Spring Festival of the FZI  will take place at Pier 13 in Berlin. The main topic will be the research on IT security in Germany. Besides that, the FZI will present research results from projects of various, further application fields.

Germany wants to be among the top countries in the field of digital value creation – the German Federal Government sees the need to securely design this development and thus creates open spaces for research. The Federal and State Ministries fund competence centres and project consortia, for this purpose, which shall detect security vulnerabilities as early as possible and create awareness for secure production. The State Baden-Württemberg has been funding the Competence Center for IT Security at the FZI since 2017, for example.

However, those researching on IT security operate in legal grey areas: Some steps, needed in software for the evaluation of IT security are, for example, not clearly defined by copyright.

Against this background, Andreas Könen, director General Cyber and Information Security of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community, Teresa Ritter, head of Security Policy at Germany’s digital association bitkom, as well as Manuela Wagner, research scientist at the Competence Center for IT Security of the FZI, will discuss the framework conditions of the IT security research on the podium. Luise Kranich, manager of the FZI branch office Berlin, will present the discussion.

Subsequently, the guests will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts from the FZI on current questions and results in applied research in information technology. The Pier 13 provides the right atmosphere and culinary backdrop.

Registration is possible as of now.

We are looking forward to meeting you!
