Developing the car of the future

In collaboration with our partners, we develop, research and evaluate components for vehicles of future generations in the FZI Living Lab Automotive.

The car of the future will analyse and interpret the driver’s intentions and the vehicle’s surroundings and will plan or automatically execute targeted actions in order to support the driver.

Our research work focuses on:

  • Warnings about obstacles/evaluation of the traffic flow: Via built-in sensors, cameras and intelligent software and hardware systems the vehicle will be able to identify its surroundings, evaluate the traffic situation and issue warnings about obstacles. Thus, especially accidents or even traffic jams can be avoided.
  • Driving without a driver: In order to realise the partly autonomous car without a human behind the steering wheel, we create numerous methodical and technical conditions in the FZI Living Lab Automotive.
