DREAM – Digital REseArch Mining

In order to discover new open access publications and artefacts, to find experts and to participate in the publication process, the project DREAM prototypically develops a smartphone application and a platform, in which researchers and scientifically interested persons can quickly and simply browse through large amounts of professional new publications and link additional contents on the
go. Short teasers, statistic models for text analyses and the integration of renowned academic publication and authentication services help to improve the usability and the open data exchange in the long-term. Moreover, possibilities are created that enable authors and experts to cooperate transparently and independent of publishers in the review process. For this purpose, technologies are also being developed that automatically determine suitable experts and that distribute the review prizes offered by authors for reviewers in trust and transparently.  The project contributes on a long-term basis to the establishment of open and user-friendly infrastructures for scientific contributions as an alternative to existing utilisation procedures.

DREAM is a project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, in order to provide scientific texts and literature barrier-free and accessible free of charge, according to the open access strategy of the German Federal Government. The project is jointly carried out by the FZI Research Center for Information Technology (FZI) and the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG).
