Janek Bender studied business informatics in Osnabrück, Clausthal and Zagreb between 2009 and 2016. After a two-year excursion into the private sector, he returned to research as a research associate at the FZI in the department for Process and Data Management in Engineering in 2018. He has been vice manager of the department since 2021.

His research interests lie in the application of artificial intelligence in the field of production, process simulation and optimization, as well as in issues related to Industry 4.0.
