Intelligent Systems and Production Engineering

Tobias Riedel studied mechatronics and information technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and at the UFRJ in Rio de Janeiro. In his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at KIT, he specialized in electromobility and energy systems technology. He wrote his master's thesis on storage requirements in a cross-sectoral renewable energy system and the impact of propulsion technologies in the transport sector.

Tobias Riedel has been a research associate at the FZI since the beginning of 2020. His focus is on the integration of prosumer households and their energy management systems into the energy system. This involves the transrregional balancing of fluctuations in renewable energies while at the same time taking local restrictions in distribution grids into account.

Tobias Riedel is also head of the Living Lab smartEnergy, in which the latest technologies and concepts for the energy transition are prototyped, evaluated and demonstrated.
