LOKI - Airborne Observation of Critical Infrastructures

The goal of the project LOKI funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is the development of an interdisciplinary system for fast and reliable airborne situation assessment after earthquakes. A central focus is the timely overview and detailed recording of damages to critical infrastructures, such as lifelines (bridges and roads) and public institutions (e.g. schools). To this end, researchers at FZI are developing real-time coordination mechanisms for UAV fleets to enable the monitoring of large areas.

Logistikoptimierung für die PTV Group

Bereits seit dem Jahr 2007 entwerfen und implementieren FZI-Wissenschaftlerinnen und -Wissenschaftler im Direktauftrag für die PTV Group Planungs- und Optimierungsverfahren rund um die Touren- und Gebietsplanung, entwickeln sie weiter und halten sie auf dem aktuellen Stand der Forschung.

Ziel der Kooperation ist es bis heute, praxistaugliche Planungs- und Optimierungsverfahren für die Logistik zu entwerfen und zu entwickeln. Schwerpunktmäßig konzentriert man sich auf heuristische Verfahren, die zum Beispiel für die Planung von Transporttouren oder Vertriebsgebieten eingesetzt werden, und die in der Lage sind, eine Vielzahl an Anforderungen aus der täglichen Praxis der PTV-Kunden zu berücksichtigen.

Optimierung der Stahlproduktion für Dillinger

Die Stahlproduktion ist durch eine große Diversität an teils verflochtenen Planungsproblemen gekennzeichnet. Diese sind Gegenstand einer langjährigen Forschungskooperation zwischen dem FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik und der AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke. Aktuell werden in verschiedenen Forschungsprojekten Fragen im Bereich der Pack- und Zuschnittoptimierung, der Kapazitätsplanung und der Intralogistik wissenschaftlich aufgearbeitet.

Ziel der Forschungskooperation ist die Entwicklung von Planungsverfahren unter Berücksichtigung von praxisrelevanten Anforderungen einer integrierten Stahlproduktion und deren Implementierung in Entscheidungsunterstützungstools mittels moderner Software-Technologien.

Innovation partnership with Lufthansa Cargo

Within an innovation partnership, the FZI analyses and evaluates current questions of Lufthansa Cargo AG according to most recent scientific findings. Together with doctoral candidates and students, the FZI strives to transfer the methods and findings of interdisciplinary research to various areas of Lufthansa Cargo AG.

The topics cover a wide spectrum within the research division IPE and various areas at Lufthansa Cargo AG, from logistical and economic issues (packing planning, network planning, pricing) to IT topics such as IT security.

BigPro: Use of Big Data Technologies for Fault Management in Production

The aim of the project BigPro is to enable resilient and reactive production systems through the use of a real-time capable big data platform with reactive and proactive fault management.

Within the projects, FZI researchers deal with the conception and implementation of services for the reactive and proactive fault detection as well as the dynamic fault correction.

proveit40

Im Projekt "proveit40" geht es um die Entwicklung einer IT-Lösung zum echtzeitnahen Störungsmanagement in intermodalen Transportnetzwerken der Robert Bosch GmbH. Dazu werden die im öffentlich geförderten Vorgängerprojekt "ProveIT" erarbeiteten Konzepte weiterentwickelt und an die spezifischen Anforderungen von Bosch angepasst. Ziel der Kooperation ist es, die Lösung für den Produktiveinsatz bei Bosch vorzubereiten und gemeinsam weltweit auszurollen.

Broker für Dynamische Produktionsnetzwerke (DPNB)

Im Maschinen- und Anlagenbau kommt es häufig zu Nachfrageschwankungen und volatilen Marktbedingungen. Um diese beherrschbar zu machen, wird im Rahmen des Forschungsprojekts DPNB eine Online-Plattform entwickelt, die Anbieter und Nachfrager kurzfristiger Produktions-, Montage- und Transportkapazitäten zusammenbringt und so eine agile und strukturflexible Supply Chain ermöglicht. Beispielsweise können dann Hersteller von Produktionsanlagen die Plattform als „offenes“ System nutzen, um ihren Kunden damit Zugang zu Lieferketten anderer Unternehmen zu erleichtern. Aber auch als „geschlossenes“ System kann die Plattform Unternehmen beim effizienten Management des eigenen Zuliefernetzwerks unterstützen.

Das FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik leistet Beiträge zur Modellierungsumgebung für maschineninterpretierbare Daten, zur Echtzeit-Dateninfrastruktur und zum Entwurf von mathematischen Modellen und Algorithmen zur Abstimmung von Angebot und Nachfrage.

efeuCampus Bruchsal

In the research project for urban and autonomous freight logistics efeuCampus in Bruchsal, funded by the European Union and the state of Baden-Württemberg, the project partners are developing intelligent freight logistics on the last mile. The aim is to find solutions for supply and disposal within an urban area using autonomous, electrically driven delivery robots.

The FZI develops IT solutions on the test site for the interaction between users, autonomous vehicles and the central warehouse as well as for the energy management of the delivery vehicles. The FZI also conducts research on legal issues in the areas of road traffic law, registration law, liability law and data protection law.

SiLKe

From June 2019 and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the FZI is examining potential improvements in traceability and safety in food supply chains as a part of the dynamic SiLKe research team. The goal of the project is to design and test a blockchain-based digital platform, which builds trust, facilitates transparent information exchange between all participants in a supply chain and increases safety in food production and logistics.
