Telemedicine and Health Care Services

Telemedicine and Health Care Services

Information and communication technology (ICT) has become an integral part of health service infrastructure and helps increase process efficiency and efficacy. FZI projects have shown that success in this field depends not only on the quality of the technology that is used but also on the way in which it is embedded in processes, structures, and networks. This is why the FZI is increasingly working on developing appropriate service concepts, planning algorithms and methods for evaluating productivity and quality. The primary focus is on costs and profitability in order to achieve a high cost-benefit ratio for patients, physicians, and health care and emergency services while keeping costs as low as possible.

A major emphasis of the work at the FZI is on telemedicine. Telemedicine is the provision of health care services using ICT when the patient and physician are not in the same location. The FZI develops and evaluates needs-based technologies and services in various projects with industrial and medical partners.
