Job Description

The FZI is a non-profit institution for applied research in information technology and technology transfer. We are looking for a research scientist (m/f/d) to support one of our four research divisions at our head office in Karlsruhe or at our branch office in Berlin as soon as possible and on a full-time basis. The contract for this post is initially limited to two years.

In the research focus “Real-Time Data Management”, the FZI deals with questions of the management and the analysis of large amounts of data as well as data streams in the fields of application like production and logistics.

Your Responsibilities

Your tasks will include:

  • Applying scientific methods and approaches to practical problems
  • Cooperation in a research project in the field of mobility involving industrial partners with various organisation possibilities
  • Design and development of innovative technologies, for example in the fields edge and fog computing, stream processing, (streaming) machine learning and distributed systems

Your Profile

  • Degree in Informatics, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering and Management or related disciplines 
  • Ability to work independently and think methodically and creatively as well as great interest in application-oriented scientific work
  • First experience and interest in dealing with big data technologies (e.g. Apache Spark, Apache Flink), messaging technologies (e.g. Apache Kafka) and/or ML frameworks (e.g. Tensorflow, H2O)
  • Very good knowledge of software development as well as enthusiasm for dealing with new technologies
  • Very good German and English skills
