Job Description

In order to detect and exploit thermic flexibility within buildings, we are currently setting up a network of environmental sensors in the FZI House of Living Labs (HoLL). We intent to integrate an internally designed sensor platform into this network, which is supposed to operate exclusively on open source or in-house developed software. The sensor data will need to be transferred via Bluetooth to a Gateway, which then relays it to the remaining network. Special focus has to be given to secure communication and low power consumption of the sensors. We are looking for motivated students to aid us in the software development process.

Your Responsibilities

Depending on your area of interest:

  • Development of low-level communication software
  • Optimization of the sensor firmware towards low energy consumption
  • Network security analysis
  • Development of a Bluetooth gateway

Your Profile

  • Experience in software development for embedded systems in C
  • Basic knowledge of standard communication protocols
  • Course of studies: computer science, electrical engineering, or similar
