KQCBW25
Kompetenzzentrum Quantencomputing Baden-Württemberg
Start: 09/2025
End: 03/2027

The Baden-Württemberg Quantum Computing Competence Center (KQCBW) is a consortium of research partners from academia and industry. Since 2020, its mission has been to consolidate and expand expertise in the development and application of quantum computers for research, education, services, and production within Baden-Württemberg.
The aim is to strengthen cooperation between research and industry in this field by pooling resources, enabling companies and research institutions to leverage the advantages of quantum computing for practical applications at an early stage. It particularly focuses on key industries in Baden-Württemberg: information technology, medical technology, chemistry, finance, mechanical engineering, production, automotive, and logistics.

This will take the unique quantum computing ecosystem in Baden-Württemberg to a new level.

Role of the FZI
As part of the Competence Center, the FZI is working on quantum software engineering, focusing on integrating quantum computing into classical software development.

In the current funding phase (2025–2027), the FZI is developing continuous integration and build automation for quantum software to provide stable and readily usable software despite the rapid evolution of quantum computing hardware and software.
