ROUTINE
Sandbox for the transfer of digital health applications and AI to healthcare
Start: 10/2022
End: 12/2024

The central goal of ROUTINE is the establishment of a sandbox, accompanied by the structured creation of framework conditions for a successful application of AI in healthcare.
The AI sandbox is intended to serve research groups willing to spin off up to SMEs to test developed AI applications in a protected evaluation environment and to lead them to market maturity.
Whether intelligent image recognition in cancer diagnostics, analyses and recommendations from fitness trackers, or autonomously operating care robots: the ideas for using artificial intelligence in healthcare are diverse. With the Real-World Lab for the Transfer of Digital Health Applications and AI into Healthcare (ROUTINE), the FZI Research Center for Information Technology provides a space for future research and supports companies in transferring digital health applications and AI into healthcare.
Role of the FZI
In addition to providing technical expertise and real-world health data, the focus lies on identifying and overcoming barriers to transferring scientific research into practical application. This enables projects, for example, to be adapted at an early stage to legal or technical framework conditions. By offering insights into ongoing research, the initiative creates opportunities for the public and for the healthcare sector, such as hospitals, medical practices, or health insurance providers, to expand their knowledge of AI in healthcare and to explore its potential.
