Transformation Hub Automotive Software Engineering (TASTE)
Software development skills are the foundation of the software-defined vehicle
Start: 11/2022
End: 12/2026
The entire automotive industry is undergoing a major transformation – new drive technologies due to emissions restrictions, new market players, and significant disruptions to the long-established balance of global trade relations are the driving forces. Much is also changing within the vehicle itself: value creation in the automotive industry is increasingly driven by digitized, software-based mobility services. Consequently, the scope and complexity of vehicle software are increasing. Short release cycles, efficient software integration, and remote software updates will determine Germany’s position in global competition.
The Transformation Hub Automotive Software Engineering aims to establish software development as a strategic priority within the automotive industry and foster a sector-wide software development culture. The Hub is intended to serve as a platform for innovation and knowledge transfer, enhancing the automotive sector’s competencies in software integration across the entire value chain and product lifecycle, and providing the technical foundation for spin-offs and new business models.
The Hub fills a gap in the competence and networking landscape of the German automotive industry. Software development is cross-functional to established engineering domains in automotive engineering and is currently not reflected in the supplier structures of the automotive industry, nor in the structures of their associations and committees.
Through a variety of events, the Hub offers stakeholders in the automotive software field a platform for exchanging ideas, networking, and sharing knowledge.
The FZI addresses the areas of E/E and software architectures, Software-Defined Vehicle, and the use of Free and Open Source Software within the Hub. In addition, the FZI hosts one of the four regional Technology Showcases of the Hub.
Intelligent Transportation Systems and Logistics
