Frank Bieder studied Electrical and Information Engineering from 2011 to 2018 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the University of Ottawa. After completing his studies, he worked as a deep learning researcher and software engineer at the AI startup Atlatec, which is now part of Bosch GmbH.

Since May 2019, Frank Bieder has been a research scientist at the FZI Research Center for Information Technology in the Mobile Perception Systems (MPS) department. As part of his doctorial studies, where he specializes in machine learning for cognitive systems, he visited the University of California, Berkeley for a research exchange in bird's eye view perception for embodied AI.

Since October 2025, Frank Bieder has been the scientific lead of the Visual Learning group.
