Spotlights

Experience our live demonstrations in the spotlight!

We provide a platform for our research

Discover a vibrant world of research to try out for yourself with our four spotlights: On the morning and afternoon of the FZI Open House 2026, we will be showing you how AI actively decides what new data to collect, how a fire dispatcher fights fires in a virtual control center, and how to counter cyberattacks with our live demos at our event area in the FZI House of Living Labs. Or would you rather get to know our helpful service robots that respond to your commands? In any case, you can try things out, be amazed, and discuss the live demos with us!

Our live demos starting at 11:00 a.m.:

Tell Spot!

Service robotics for interaction

Experience live how Spot responds to spoken instructions. Give the commands – Spot executes tasks directly, brings objects to the audience, and adapts spontaneously. No programming required, just voice commands! This is what modern service robotics feels like.

Presentation:

Inside the Hack

How attackers think and how you can protect yourself

Experience a realistic cyberattack live. In the virtual Security Lab, you slip into the role of the attacker, discover typical attack patterns on company websites, and learn directly how to protect yourself effectively against them. Cybersecurity that encourages you to think and participate.

When systems think

How AI decides which data is important

See live how a learning system decides for itself which data it needs. In front of the camera, you perform new gestures — and the system evaluates in real time how informative they are. Because it’s not the amount of data that counts, but its relevance. AI you can participate in and understand.

Leading in operations:

VR training for fire department managers

Experience how fire department leaders train realistically with virtual reality. Randomly generated scenarios adapt to the trainee’s performance level, and their knowledge is automatically evaluated. You slip into the leadership role yourself—and see live how decisions are analyzed and progress is measured.
