Kompetenzzentrum Quantencomputing Baden-Württemberg

The aim is to strengthen cooperation between research and industry in this field by pooling resources, enabling companies and research institutions to leverage the advantages of quantum computing for practical applications at an early stage. It particularly focuses on key industries in Baden-Württemberg: information technology, medical technology, chemistry, finance, mechanical engineering, production, automotive, and logistics.
This will take the unique quantum computing ecosystem in Baden-Württemberg to a new level.
Role of the FZI
As part of the Competence Center, the FZI is working on quantum software engineering, focusing on integrating quantum computing into classical software development.
During the current funding period (2025–2027), FZI is developing guidelines for building, documenting, and deploying quantum software with long-term sustainability in mind. The guidelines also cover continuous integration and build automation, helping to ensure that quantum software remains reliable and ready to use as quantum computing hardware and software continue to evolve rapidly.
