EAÜ-INVISIO
System for Electronic Location Monitoring Using an Intelligent Vehicle Observation System, a Digital Twin, and AI-Assisted Profiling
Start: 03/2026
End: 03/2028

The EAÜ-INVISIO project is developing a covertly deployable system for the continuous electronic collection and monitoring of location and movement information in security-relevant application scenarios. At the core of the solution is a compact and energy-efficient vehicle observation system featuring geofencing, secure communication, and robust offline data collection. Position and movement data are analyzed with the support of AI in order to model individual movement patterns, detect relevant deviations, and display events in a web-based dashboard. A digital twin of the operational environment complements the system with functions for the simulation, validation, and preparation of different operational scenarios.
The EAÜ-INVISIO project is developing a difficult-to-identify, integrated system for the continuous electronic monitoring of location and movement in security-relevant application scenarios. The focus is on a compact, energy-efficient vehicle observation system that can reliably collect and temporarily store position and movement data even when communication is limited. The system combines geofencing, secure and adaptively controlled communication, robust offline data collection, AI-supported movement analysis, and a digital twin in an integrated technical solution.

Existing location tracking and monitoring solutions are often based on general-purpose devices that have not been specifically developed for long-term, energy-efficient, and inconspicuous operation. Continuous communication can increase energy consumption and affect the technical detectability of a system. At the same time, communication interruptions can lead to gaps in data collection and require additional personnel deployments. Furthermore, existing systems often provide only limited capabilities for the automated analysis of movement data, making the timely identification of relevant events more difficult.

EAÜ-INVISIO addresses these limitations by combining difficult-to-detect hardware, energy-efficient operation, secure communication, offline logging, automated anomaly detection, and simulation-based validation into an integrated overall system.

The technology is aimed in particular at police authorities, specialized police units, other authorities and organizations with security responsibilities, operators of critical infrastructure, and private security service providers, depending on the respective application scenario and the applicable legal framework. In this context, the system is intended to reduce the need for continuous manual monitoring, improve situational assessment, and support the early detection of potentially relevant movement patterns.

The intended project objective is an integrated demonstrator that shows, under realistic conditions, the technical interaction between vehicle observation hardware, secure communication infrastructure, a web-based monitoring application with geofencing, an AI-based anomaly detection module, and a digital twin, and that provides the basis for further development and testing of the technology.

Role of the FZI
FZI is developing the digital twin and the AI-based anomaly detection system. The project aims to deliver an integrated demonstrator validated under realistic conditions for civil and law enforcement security applications.
