Autonomous Driving: Development of Experimental Vehicles

Research assistant

Research focus: Safe and Intelligent Vehicles
Courses of study: Electrical Engineering, Informatics, Mechanical Engineering, Related Disciplines

Job Description

Autonomous vehicles are on everyone's lips and are an essential component of future smart cities. These vehicles, also called experimental vehicles, combine a variety of complex challenges in a single task. Therefore, they require a finely tuned interplay of diverse development areas such as: sensor development, data processing, computer integration, mechanical work, driver development, ROS 1/2, field and trial testing, software tooling and visualization tools. The FZI is developing such test vehicles, thus offering a broad software/hardware subject area that applies to all students with technical degrees.

For you, this means that you bring a general interest in autonomous driving and the related sub -areas. You will have the opportunity to accompany the project throughout the entire development period and to get involved in various areas. This will give you the opportunity to incorporate your own ideas and generally try things out. In addition, you will gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter and broader specialist knowledge. The transition to or the integration of a thesis is of course also possible and welcome!
