Job Description

The FZI Research Center for Information Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology is a non-profit institution for applied research in information technology and technology transfer. Its task is to provide businesses and public institutions with the latest research findings in information technology. It also qualifies young researchers for their career in academics or business as well as self-employment.

For one of our research divisions, we are looking for a research scientist for the research group "Knowledge Management" to immediately fill the position. The position is initially limited to two years. The research group addresses current topics, such as stream processing, machine learning, real-time big data management and semantic web in different industrial and application domains.

Your Responsibilities

Your tasks will include:

  • Working on publicly funded and/or directly commissioned projects
  • Applying scientific methods and approaches to practical problems
  • Conception, implementation and evaluation of new, innovative methods in the field of (big) data management, semantic web and machine learning
  • Development of domain expertise in the field of industry 4.0, especially robotics
  • Presentation of research results and prototypes in the context of publications and speeches at national and international conferences

Your Profile

  • Degree in informatics, business informatics or a related subject
  • Experience in machine learning and interest in learning about linked data, ontologies and cognitive systems
  • Very good knwoledge of object-oriented software development (e.g. Java/Scala)
  • Interest in application-oriented scientific (project) work as well as presentation and demonstration of research results and prototypes
  • Very good German and English skills
  • High motivation, enthusiasm, the ability to work on your own initiative and commitment when cooperating with partners, colleagues and employees
