Award for DisCoBoard

FZI research project was awarded the Wolfgang Heilmann Prize's Recognition Award (2nd place)

Research focus: Digital Society

The FZI project DisCoBoard was awarded the Wolfgang Heilmann Prize’s Recognition Award (2nd place). The award ceremony took place during this year’s event hosted by the Integrata Foundation. Jonas Fegert, Head of the FZI House of Participation (HoP), and research scientist Maximiliane Linde presented the project at the event and accepted the award on behalf of the entire project team.

In the DisCoBoard project, the FZI is collaborating with young people to develop an AI-powered dashboard for identifying and classifying disinformation. The goal is to analyze content from social networks and use explainable Artificial Intelligence to flag potentially manipulative posts and present them in an understandable way. Natural language processing techniques are used to reveal typical patterns of disinformation.

The project is aimed in particular at middle school students and educators. The goal is to strengthen long-term media literacy and empower young people to critically engage with information in digital spaces. DisCoBoard is funded as part of the federal program “Demokratie leben!” by the Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
