Avik Bhatnagar is a Research Scientist within the System Design in Microelectronics (SiM) department at FZI. He holds an Integrated Masters of Technology (I.M.Tech) in Electronics and Communication Engineering with a specialization in AI/ML from the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore.
His current research addresses the fundamental challenges of on-device learning, specifically focusing on adapting Machine Learning models to dynamic real-world environments without cloud dependency. By developing efficient methods for on-chip gradient calculation and training regime management, he enables privacy-preserving, resilient AI that functions within the strict constraints of edge hardware. Ultimately, his goal is to bridge the gap between static algorithms and truly adaptive, autonomous edge AI systems.
