David Schackmann first studied psychology at TU Dresden and then went on to study human factors at TU Berlin. In 2025, he completed his Master’s degree with a thesis on situational awareness and workload in teleoperated rail operations.
During his studies, he worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Traffic and Transportation Psychology at TU Dresden (2021 to 2025) and as a student research assistant at the Institute of Transportation Systems at the German Aerospace Centre (2022 to 2024).

Since 2026, he has been working at the FZI as a research assistant in the Intelligent Systems and Production Engineering division. His research interests lie in the human-centered design and promotion of acceptance of automated mobility systems, as well as in road safety research.
