Christian Steinhauser studied Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). During his master’s program, he specialized in control and automation engineering. In his master’s thesis, he investigated the cooperative control of a hydraulic robotic arm for construction machinery using game-theoretic methods. The thesis was already conducted at FZI.

Since April 2019, Christian Steinhauser has been working as a research associate in the Embedded Systems and Sensors Engineering (ESS) research division at FZI. He is pursuing a doctorate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in the research group of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eric Sax. His doctoral research focuses on the qualification of simulations for the approval of camera-based automated driving systems. His other research interests include simulation-based validation and testing of highly automated driving functions.

Since April 2026, he has been working in the Innovation, Strategy and Transfer (IST) research division.
