FOSS: Einführung und Basics
Open source is found in nearly every modern vehicle—in control units, middleware, and development tools. Yet many companies still treat the topic as a blind spot: They use FOSS but have no clear understanding of how these projects are organized, who sets the rules, and what that means for their own development. The MeetUp on September 23 will shed light on these issues.
The first part provides a structured overview: What exactly is FOSS, and how does it differ from proprietary software—not only in terms of licensing but also in practice? How do FOSS projects come about, who supports them, and what mechanisms govern these communities? The second part focuses on the automotive context: What FOSS activities are currently taking place in the industry, which projects are relevant, and what can companies learn from them? The MeetUp concludes with a specific question: What does a FOSS strategy look like that fits your own company—depending on its size, role in the supply chain, and available resources?
The format is intentionally designed as a discussion, not a lecture. If you have questions or want to share your own experiences, this is the perfect event for you.
