8th Regional Conference on Mobility Transition
Intelligent mobility – innovations and AI for the future
The Regional Conference on Mobility Transition, with the theme “Intelligente Mobilität – Innovationen und KI für die Zukunft” (Intelligent Mobility – Innovations and AI for the Future), will be held on September 23, 2025, in Karlsruhe. It will bring together political representatives, research institutions, and companies from three German states and from the French Collectivité européenne d’Alsace.
In the panel discussion on the topic of „Mobilität der Zukunft – Autonome Verkehrssysteme und ihre Umsetzung“ (Mobility of the Future – Autonomous Transport Systems and Their Implementation), guests can expect a wide-ranging debate on one of the central issues of modern transport development. The panelists, including FZI expert Dr. Alexander Viehl, will bring different perspectives from research, technology, education, and municipal practice to the table, guaranteeing a multifaceted discussion. We look forward to a discussion that will highlight both visions for the future and concrete implementation strategies from the perspectives of research, technology, administration, education, and practice. The panel discussion will begin at 11:45 a.m.
In her presentation “EDIH-AICS als Transfer-Enabler für die Einführung von Powered Mobility-Lösungen in Unternehmen” (EDIH-AICS as a transfer enabler for the introduction of powered mobility solutions in companies), FZI scientist Iuliana Nichersu will show how the FZI and the EDIH-AICS partners are developing innovative solutions in mobility and passing this expertise on to interested companies and public institutions in a targeted manner. The presentation is part of the Fachforum 1 (Expert Forum 1): Smarte Mobilität – KI und Daten als Treiber der Zukunft (Smart Mobility – AI and Data as Drivers of the Future), which begins at 2 p.m.
About the Regional Conference on Mobility Transition
The Regional Conference on Mobility Transition is organized annually by the Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion and the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region on an alternating basis. The last edition took place in 2024 under the motto “Kurs halten und finanzielle Herausforderungen meistern” (Staying on course and mastering financial challenges) at the Palatin in Wiesloch with almost 500 participants.
The Regional Conference on Mobility Transition 2025 is supported by EnBW AG, Karlsruhe Transport Authority (KVV), L-Bank, and THOST Projektmanagement GmbH. Cooperation partners are the Ministry of Transport Baden-Württemberg and the Ministry of Economy, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture, State of Rhineland-Palatinate. Media partners are NahverkehrsPraxis and SWR Studio Karlsruhe.
The European Digital Innovation Hub applied Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity (EDIH-AICS) is a cooperation partner of the Regional Conference on Mobility Transition. Within this network, the FZI and nine partners in the fields of production, mobility, energy, trade, services, and public administration offer services that support local, national, and European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, and public sector organizations in their digitalization efforts.
