TECHNOarena-Show – Wie Roboter unsere Welt kennenlernen
From the first steps to support right on your doorstep
Robots are taking on more and more tasks for humans—even in everyday life. But they also face challenges time and again. Dr.-Ing. Georg Heppner from the FZI Research Center for Information Technology explains how to teach robots, for example, to walk properly or navigate unfamiliar terrain in a series of live demonstrations at the TECHNOSEUM.
The route from the delivery van to the front door may be simple for a mail carrier, but for a robot, it’s fraught with obstacles: obeying traffic rules, carrying heavy packages, navigating curbs, and finding the right door—there’s a lot of work to be done before an autonomous delivery service like this can function properly. Georg Heppner is a department head in the Intelligent Systems and Production Engineering division at the FZI Research Center for Information Technology. Drawing on his many years of experience at the intersection of research and practice, he uses state-of-the-art robots to demonstrate current developments and future prospects.
