Our headquarters are located in the Oststadt district of Karlsruhe, close to the Karl-Wilhelm-Platz S-Bahn stop and various canteens, bakeries, restaurants and supermarkets. The KIT and the Mensa on Adenauerring are also within walking distance. In addition, there is a bicycle garage and underground parking spaces.

Our Branch Office is on Friedrichstraße, not far from the Stadtmitte subway stop. In the surrounding area there are numerous restaurants and opportunities for shopping. A bicycle garage and some underground parking spaces are also available.
Family Friendliness
At the FZI, we respect the needs of families by offering flexible arrangements for choosing where and when to work. We also support FZI employees with young children by offering daycare places.

Benefits for student assistants and temporary staff
Do you want to make a meaningful contribution to society during your studies or as a temporary employee? Then the FZI is the right place for you! As a non-profit foundation, we conduct our research exclusively for the benefit of society. The satisfaction of our student assistants and temporary staff is very important to us, so we offer you many attractive benefits.
We base our remuneration on the guidelines for universities in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Thus, the remuneration per hour for assistants without a university degree is 12.41 euros, for assistants with a bachelor’s degree or FH diploma 12.87 euros, and for assistants with an accredited master’s degree or university diploma 17.49 euros. The remuneration of temporary employees is not based on the specifications for universities of the state of Baden-Württemberg, but on criteria such as the activity and, if applicable, professional experience and degree.

At the FZI, we use the latest hardware and software. Together with our research scientists, you will also work in first-class equipped research laboratories.
Personal Development
Exciting insights into the FZI's applied research: An internal survey has shown that, in addition to enjoying their work (94 %), our FZI assistants particularly value the fact that it is directly related to their course of study (79 %) and that they can gain valuable practical experience (89%).
Opportunities Around Your Studies
We offer a lot of thesis topics at the FZI. Last year, for example, we (co-)supervised a total of 176 bachelor's and master's theses. Often, the students (co-)supervised by us for their thesis have previously worked as assistants at the FZI, and many also join us as employees after graduation.
Good Support
It is important to us to be at your side as motivated and competent supervisors. This is also the perception of our assistants. Around 90 % of our assistants say that their supervisors have enough time for them and provide support them with helpful feedback.
