Jacob Langner studied Business Informatics at the University of Rostock. During his studies, he focused on database and information systems, which he also dealt with in his master's thesis entitled "Development and evaluation of methods for incremental schema extraction from NoSQL databases". After completing his studies, he started working at the FZI in November 2016 as a research assistant in the "Embedded Systems and Sensors Engineering" (ESS) research department. In his research, he deals with the data-driven development support of highly automated driving functions. The focus is particularly on the evaluation and virtual application of these systems. Since May 2021, he has been department manager of the Automotive Systems Engineering research group.
